Get your heart checked in the cardiobus
A nationwide cardiological testing campaign has been launched to check the Poles’ heart condition. In the cardiobus of the NEUCA Foundation for Health, that will visit 30 cities and towns all over Poland from the beginning of December until the end of January, everyone can undergo an ECG check-up, as well as have their blood pressure and BMI measured. TU Zdrowie has joined the action promoting cardiological tests.
Cardiovascular diseases are invariably the most common cause of premature death in Poland. Preventive cardiac screening is socially necessary amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. It has been confirmed that cardiac complications are commonly seen after COVID-19 infection and may appear up to several months after onset, also in young patients. The three most common complications are myocardial infarction, heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias. For this reason, the Polish Cardiac Society appeals not to underestimate the alarming symptoms. Post-Covid cardiovascular disease may be manifested by dyspnea during exercise and chest pain. Therefore, it is important to monitor your health, even when you have recovered or are vaccinated.
In the cardiobus, every patient has the opportunity to undergo an ECG test, blood pressure measurement and, in the case of obesity, a BMI test. The ECG test is particularly indicated when the patient has chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis or heart attack.
- At NEUCA Foundation for Health, we believe that preventive screenings can lay the foundation for cardiovascular disease prevention. For this reason, by the end of January next year, our cardiobus will travel across Poland, stopping in dozens of towns and cities to invite their residents for cardiac screenings - says Bogusława Golus-Jankowska, Health Programs Manager, NEUCA Foundation for Health.
The action of the NEUCA Foundation for Health was joined by TU Zdrowie, which also encourages its clients to undergo cardiological tests. All the insured will be informed about the opportunity to benefit from the cardiobus. In addition, TU Zdrowie supports the campaign through the media and social networks.
Participation in the testing in the cardiobus is free of charge, but pre-registration is required. This can be done before the planned test at the same address where the tests will be held. The tests take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- We are making every effort to ensure the safety of all patients in the current epidemic emergency. Only scheduled appointments will be made on the cardiobus. Before entering the bus, each patient will have their temperature taken and will have their hands disinfected. We invite patients who have no suspicion of coronavirus infection and wear masks to cover their mouths and noses - adds Justyna Koltońska, Health Scheme Specialist, NEUCA Foundation for Health
