The biggest threat for people are the diseases that ticks transmit. Pathogenic microorganisms get through to ticks together with the hosts’ infected blood. The infection happens the moment the tick bites thus injects germs into the bloodstream. In Poland the most frequent diseases transmitted by ticks are the Lyme disease and tick-borne encephalitis (TBE)

At the bite site erythema migrans (EM) rash usually appears.
