TU Zdrowie provides medical assistance on LOTOS Petrobaltic offshore platforms
TU Zdrowie provides staffing and 24-hour medical coverage at outpatient clinics organized on offshore platforms owned by LOTOS Petrobaltic. The insurer’s alliance with Poland’s only mining company dealing with the extraction and exploitation of oil and gas deposits in the Baltic Sea, in the Polish economic zone, has been launched as of April 2023.
As part of its cooperation with LOTOS Petrobaltic, TU Zdrowie provides fully equipped hospital outpatient clinics on drilling and mining platforms located at the Baltic Sea. Offshore doctors are available around the clock for full 24-hour coverage for platform crews and other personnel on the platforms. Their task is to secure all health needs are met, from preventive care, through emergency medical assistance, to intervention in case of life and health emergencies.
“We are pursuing a very non-standard and unique project, as TU Zdrowie is at the moment the only insurer in Poland that provides medical services in the Baltic Sea. The specificity and complexity of partnering with LOTOS Petrobaltic lies in comprehensive health insurance for platform personnel. This insurance is valid only at sea. Therefore, it is not the same as TU Zdrowie’s health insurance, which we provide as standard to all other policyholders,” stresses Dariusz Grądziel, TU Zdrowie’s Sales Director. “We have had to meet very specific expectations, both from our client LOTOS Petrobaltic, as well as requirements resulting directly from special regulations,” Mr. Dariusz Grądziel concludes.
TU Zdrowie is also required to equip the outpatient clinics located on each platform with medical equipment, and the necessary medications, disinfectants and dressings.
LOTOS Petrobaltic SA is the only Polish mining company providing oil and gas field prospecting and extraction on the Polish Baltic Sea shelf, as well as comprehensive offshore logistics services, seabed survey services and fleet management. LOTOS Petrobaltic has five offshore platforms: two drilling platforms and three mining platforms (including the unmanned PG-1 platform). As of August 1, 2022, LOTOS Petrobaltic SA is part of the ORLEN Group.
