Overseas medical expenses in TU Zdrowie policy
Frequent international travelers require insurance that provides them with hassle-free access to medical care, anywhere they are. TU Zdrowie’s health policy, with VIP options, guarantees coverage for medical expenses while traveling abroad all over the world.
Overseas medical expenses are an integral part of TU Zdrowie’s VIP variant policy. The policy is designed for people who travel frequently to different parts of the world, such as company board members or executives whose business duties require them to travel abroad.
- The advantage of this solution is that the cover applies throughout the term of the insurance contract, which means that the insured does not need to purchase an additional policy before each trip. The insurance contract does not limit the number of trips, but only the duration of a single stay up to 180 days - says Teresa Domańska, Director of the TU Zdrowie’s Health Insurance Office.
No territorial restrictions is therefore another advantage of the policy, not least for people who travel to different countries. While most policies on the market exclude, for example, the US and Canada from the standard insurance due to the high cost of treatment in said countries, TU Zdrowie not only guarantees its coverage, but offers high insurance amounts.
- Importantly, the policy also covers damage caused during recreational sports, for example cross-country and downhill skiing, diving, golf or windsurfing. The terms and conditions of insurance specify exactly which types of recreational sports are covered - adds Teresa Domańska.
The “W podróży zagranicznej” insurance scheme covers costs of hospital and ambulatory treatment in the event of a sudden illness or an accident occurring abroad, as well as other costs which the family or the insured will be required to pay, such as the costs of food and accommodation during convalescence, or the costs of travel and accommodation for family members in the event of hospitalization. The insured is also provided with the assistance of an interpreter, a substitute driver, and a home assistant.
- An insured who requires medical assistance while abroad contacts the assistance center, which organizes their treatment. Therefore, they do not have to worry about which doctor or facility to contact. The consultant will arrange an in-patient visit as soon as possible and as close as possible to where the insured is staying. It is also possible to request a telemedicine consultation - stresses Teresa Domańska.
The insured has two options for medical services abroad. They can use medical assistance against payment (after contacting the operations center) and request reimbursement up to the amount specified in the insurance contract. Alternatively, they can “outsource” the organization of assistance to the operations center and avoid spending their own money. The value of the services provided then reduces the insurance amount and the limit that the insured will continue to be entitled to.
Each VIP variant policy holder can include their family members in the insurance, who are then provided with the same coverage.
